Screenshots of academic art theory texts are arranged into a ziggurat. Depending on the viewer’s perspective, the shape either recedes or advances. But either way, the form cancels function because the overlapping structure prevents recognition of ideas or authors. Text that is meant to inspire critical inquiry just frustrates and confuses. Historically the top part of a ziggurat contained guarded areas that were only accessible by certain stairways so that the rituals performed inside couldn’t be seen or understood by the public.
Obfuscation will always be a way of preventing equal access to knowledge.
